According to Vanguard News paper, The Niger Delta militants have continued their attacks on oil systems in Nigeria blowing up the Chevron Valve Platform in Abiteye,
Warri North council area of Delta state.

This accident happened at about 10:40pm today being May 5th. An official of the Department of Security Services (DSS), (Name with held), confirmed that the platform was totally destroyed with the use of dynamites by the militants.

The source further said that the platform is a main connection point where all other installations link up and serves as a pivot
to chevron BOP and the Chevron Tank farm thereby helping all operations of the company in the region.

The Niger Delta Avengers claimed the responsibility for the incident in a statement noted that onslaught on the facility is
in line with its pledge to the Nigerian government to cripple the economy.

The group also threatened to attack oil installations in Lagos and Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

We want to pass this message to the all
international oil companies operating in the Niger Delta that the Nigeria Military can’t protect their facilities. They should talk to the Federal government to meet our demands else more mishaps will befall their installations.

“Until our demands are met, no repair Works should be done at the blast site,” the group said.

The militants had earlier claimed responsibility for destroying the Forcados 48-inch export pipeline.

A militant group has yesterday told Government Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo , that his letter to President Muhammadu Buhari disowning the group and giving assurance to the Federal government of safety on the proposed repair works in the
region would not stop it from blowing gas pipelines.
